The Courting breakdown.

Hey readers! My apologies for the hiatus. We’ve been super busy with performances, recording, videos and other things to make sure this is one productive summer for Triangle Offense. What I have for you guys is an extensive breakdown on our first mixtape, The Courting. It has been a blessing to receive so much success with our first project, and we promise that we’ll continue with more music and videos to come. Before I describe the mixtape, I just want to a give a big thank you to our producers Nemo and Sci, our manager Edwin, and our engineer Jesse for making this mixtape possible. Also, I’d like to say thank you to our BFF Adonis, who recorded ALL of his parts in the Philippines, for making this vision come true. Now, on to the breakdown. Each of our songs has 2 titles, 1 that serves as part of the story, and the other as the track title. I’ve written a notes for both, so you can have an idea of where you are in the story and how the track was made.  Happy reading!

Who’s sicker than us? [Literally.]

After hearing my manager fight the coughs to carry a conversation, and hearing our guitarist [MJ!] has been in the hospital for 2 days, I now only fear God and the common cold. Sci and Nemo [who formulate Jersey Boys] have been very sick as well. I, however, feel pretty good. Interestingly enough, I was on the same boat as them 2 weeks ago during our back to back performances on October 17th.

“Hell Week” has arrived as Edwin [manager] would call it. This is the week where our team sacrifices all of our time in devotion to rehearsing, recording, and mixing in preparation for a performance. In this particular case, 2 performances. In one day. Did I mention I was sick?

Sci and Edwin finished recuperating from their cold, only to pass it on to me. It was very difficult to rehearse when you’re coughing your butt off in between songs, but the guys were very supportive in toughing it out. Sci would bring cough drops and Buckley’s cough syrup and Edwin would share his left over prescription medicine with me to help me get to our performance date.

Paving the way…

Thanks for showing love Jersey !

What up world, it’s none other than Finesse from T.O.!

I’m going to touch on a few things that has been on my mind as far as Hip Hop and filling the void that I feel exists in our culture. Growing up I was influenced by all types of music-from Green Day to Wu-Tang, from Hov’ to Incubus, from country to reggae…etc. You name it I listened to it. You can say I have an overall appreciation for all music. I commend all artists on their efforts as far as the music, grind, and the image they put out there. It is inspiring to not only hear a song, but also knowing the surrounding efforts behind it that pushes it forward. As my favorite artist-of-the-moment would fade away and the next generation would come in to do their thing, I found myself making the transition and applying the values I have as a music lover. I can proudly say that the generation before me did a great job shaping my senses of what I like and what I don’t.
